Year 12 End of Year Laptop Prep
Hello Year 12 students,
With the end of your time at Kolbe getting closer, it is time to start preparing to backup the data on your laptops you wish to keep (Details on Sheet below).
If your device is managed by the College and not a BYOD Device you must bring it into I.T. to get wiped from the Collegel Systems.
A simple way to tell if your device is managed by the College is:
Please be advised that if you don’t back up your data before the dates listed below the laptop will have a lock placed on it, once you bring it to IT your data will be erased (Photos Included) and College accounts closed.
Our preference is for you to bring your laptop to I.T directly before you exit the College.
If you do not, please be aware a LOCK will be placed on your laptop remotely by I.T.
It can not be removed without bring to I.T to get the device wiped.
Date devices will be LOCKED remotely (TBC)
NOTE: All accounts linked to your College account (email included) will be disabled and not accessible once you EXIT. The College has no control over personal Apple IDs added to the Laptop, please try and sign out of these before the dates listed above.
Any issues you contact I.T on 03 8339 3033 during normal College hours.
Back up Laptop
When backing up data from your laptop you have 2 options:
Option 1
When logged in under your account on the laptop you can copy the below folders directly from the internal Hard Drive to an external hard drive and then paste the back later.
This option is best used if wiping the laptop and wanting to add the files back after a complete wipe.
NOTE: any applications would need to manually be re-installed.
1. Under 'Finder' select Settings.

2. Make sure 'Hard disks' is ticked

3. The Internal hard drive of the laptop will then show on the Desktop

4. Double click on the 'Hard Drive' and follow the path below to see your 'Account Name'. Copy the folders you want to back up and paste them to an external hard drive. Paste those files under those folders back onto the laptop once you set up an account on your wiped device.

Back up Google Drive Data
- In your School Google Drive, create a new Folder and name it something like: 'Drive Back-Up'.
- Move all files and folders you wish to save into that folder.
- Right-Click on the 'Drive Back-Up' folder and select download. This will download all the files and sub-folders into a .zip file under your Downloads folder on your laptop.
- Double click on the .zip file which will open the Drive Back-Up folder and all the files under it.
- Once the folder is unzipped you can either copy the 'Drive Back-Up' folder to an external drive or upload it to a personal Google Drive.
NOTE: Any data from your College Google accounts you will need to download or forward onto your personal accounts what you wish to keep.
